Nelson-Farrar Quarterly Costimating: Indexes for selected equipment show moderate increase
Costs for six selected equipment items used in refining construction operations have been surveyed for the 3 years, 1998-2000. The accompanying table shows Nelson-Farrar equipment indexes for these items of equipment.
Valves and fittings showed the greatest increases in cost, rising from 1,505.4 in the first quarter of 1998 to 1,565.2 in the last quarter of 2000.
Four other items showed more modest increases. The tanks and pressure vessels category rose from 743.8 to 773.3 during the 36-month span. Nonmetallic building materials increased from 722.7 to 766.9.
Bubble trays showed an index gain from 1049.8 to 1076.2. Fractionating towers showed a 39-point gain, increasing from 874.4 to 913.8 over the 3-year period.
The final category, tube stills, lost 11.7 points during the data-compilation period. Beginning index value was 401.3, while the final value was 389.6
