This firm's latest line of specialty safety hammers meets OSHA and US government requirements for nonsparking hand tools and is suited for hazardous or volatile work environments.

The complete line consists of six groups:

  • Micro-Strike miniature mallet sets feature six interchangeable heads offering versatility for precision applications.
  • Strike Pro dead blow hammers produce 40% more driving force than conventional hammers of equal weight, the company says.
  • Power Drive dead blow hammers are especially suited for oil rigs.
  • SPI Impax soft face dead blow hammers feature a range of replaceable striking faces-ranging from supersoft to extra-hard.
  • SPS surface protective hammers with interchangeable striking faces (tips) of varying hardness.
  • Brass hammers are designed for applications requiring tremendous driving force in a compact size.

Storage tank management software

A new storage tank operation, inventory, and compliance system (STOICS) is a tank management and compliance software tool specifically developed for managers of above and belowground storage tank systems at single or multiple facilities.

This software solution focuses on the structural and maintenance side of storage tank system management, as opposed to managing the inventory of the tank contents.

STOICS helps make it easy for a compliance professional to maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date inventory of all above and belowground storage tanks, wherever they are located, quickly check compliance status, and generate management reports and documentation with a few keystrokes. STOICS is an MS Windows-based, LAN-deployable program that runs on a minimum Pentium II/266+ mhz systems running Windows95 or later. Clear directions and easy-to-read, user friendly screens provide instant access to complete, up-to-date information.

The system can generate 12 standard reports automatically, and custom reports can easily be added using Seagate Crystal Reports.

Free rotary control valve bulletin

Free Bulletin 16.00-1 describes how Maxum rotary control valves help reduce plant costs by providing precise throttling control in refining and other oil field operations.

Their high flow capacity allows valves of one or two sizes smaller to be specified, resulting in reduced cost for new plants or upgrades, the bulletin notes.

The Maxum features 0.5% throttling control accuracy that allows tight control of process parameters.

Three operator interfaces have been certified as Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D, suited for hazardous oil field locations.

The Model MD00R-4 (4 by 20) and Model MD00R-2 (2 by 20) (on the left in the photo) are backlit LCD displays with 10 membrane keys and 128 KB of flash memory.

The Model ETT-VGA (on the right in the photo) is an active matrix TFT color display with a 10.4 in. diagonal touch screen, with 11 front panel membrane pushbuttons.

The interfaces feature rugged housings and are fully factory tested prior to shipment. The digital displays and keypads are engineered for reliable and programmable use.

New type control valve seat

A new type of control valve seat delivers Repeatable Zero Leakage for shutoff pressures up to 10,000 psi.

The RHP is capable of meeting virtually any shutoff requirement, including the requirements of API 6A, PSL 2, 3, or 4, which is zero leakage at full rated pressure. It's rated up to 10,000 psi and is available in plug sizes 11/2-5 in. These are nominally 2-8 in. (51-203 mm) valve sizes.

RHP valve seating technology is now more broadly applied, but is particularly useful in compressor recycle. Compressor efficiency is augmented where recycle and hot gas bypass valves are equipped with RHP zero-leakage seats. Benefits are also realized in applications such as blowdown and vent-to-flare valves where any valve leakage is lost product up the stack, the company points out.
