New in-line viscometers
This new FVM model viscometer is pressure-resistant, explosionproof, and operates in temperatures to 280° C.
The in-line viscometers provide accuracy and reliability for measuring process liquid viscosity. These oscillation viscometers utilize a piezoelectric ceramic sensor and report viscosity at ± l% accuracy.

New diffuser helps reactor performance
A new product is designed to improve fixed bed catalytic reactor performance by the application of flow conditioning technology to optimize feed distribution at the inlet of elliptical head reactors.
Increases in capacity, efficiency, and extended equipment life are achieved, the company says, when the working fluid is uniformly supplied to the active or operational part of the reactor. The elliptical head diffuser (EHD) is specifically designed for reactors that are prone to poor flow distribution because of high ratios of vessel diameter to length of expansion. It provides a flat velocity profile to the top of the catalyst bed.
The EHD can be installed and removed through a reactor inlet nozzle or fixed in place within the head. Each of its component sections distributes flow toward an equivalent area of catalyst while balancing momentum of each fluid substream.
Benefits of the EHD include increased reactor residence time, full use of the catalyst, elimination of surface fluidization of catalyst and attrition, and reduced system pressure drop by elimination of perforated plate distributors.
It is suited for use in flow conditioning of gaseous feeds to reactors for production of organic and inorganic chemicals. Other applications being developed are for liquid feeds in refining and petrochemical processes.

New ultrasonic flowmeters
A new line of ultrasonic flowmeters is designed for compressed air, nitrogen, and other industrial gases.
Designed for use in 2, 3, 4, and 6-in. ANSI lines, these ultrasonic meters help users quantify compressed-air use to immediately recognize losses or leakage, eliminate unnecessary compressor maintenance, and adjust volume to consumption requirements.
Meters are easy to install, maintenance free, and have virtually zero-pressure drop. Units respond immediately to changing loads, displaying flow rate and totalized volume.
