An Ashland Oil Inc. unit has signed a production sharing contract with Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC) covering two blocks off Nigeria. Ashland Nigeria Exploration Unlimited's contract involves contiguous Blocks OPL 90 and OPL 225 covering about 600,000 acres in 250-600 ft of water 25 miles off Brass River oil terminal. Ashland, which has operated in Nigeria since 1974, currently produces about 26,000 b/d of oil under a contract with NNPC covering OPL 118 and OPL 98.
