API RELEASES NEW LINE PIPE PUBLICATIONS

The API has published Specification 5L, "Specification for Line Pipe," thirty-eighth edition (Order No. 811-02000), $8 each, and Recommended Practice RP 5L1, "Recommended Practice for Railroad Transportation of Line Pipe," fourth edition (Order No. 811-02600), $5 each. Specification 5L covers seamless and welded steel line pipe in various grades. It includes standard-weight threaded line pipe and standard-weight, regular-weight, special, extra-strong, and double extra-strong plain-end line

RP 5L1 provides a recommended procedure for loading line pipe (2 % in. OD and larger) on railroad cars.
