China's big Tarim basin oil export pipeline project has taken a major step forward.
China National Petroleum Corp's Northwest Petroleum Pipeline Construction Headquarters unit and China National Machinery Import & Export Corp. signed a contract with Snamprogetti of Italy for joint design of the first leg of what eventually win be a 3,300 km pipeline to carry crude oil from remote Tarim oil fields to markets in eastern China.
Scope of the initial work covers basic and detailed engineering of a 500 km, 26 in. pipeline from Korla to Shanshan, primary and intermediate pump stations, and the terminus at Shanshan.
