RULES EXTENDED TO LOW PRESSURE LINES

The U.S. Transportation Department's Research and Special Programs Administration (RSPA) has issued a rule extending federal regulation to many low pressure pipelines. Although its hazardous liquid safety rules have not applied to steel pipelines that operate at 20% or less of specified minimum yield strength, RSPA now will regulate any pipelines moving highly volatile liquids, lines through populated areas, or segments across navigable waterways. The U.S. Transportation Department's Research and Special Programs Administration (RSPA) has issued a rule extending federal regulation to many low pressure pipelines.

Although its hazardous liquid safety rules have not applied to steel pipelines that operate at 20% or less of specified minimum yield strength, RSPA now will regulate any pipelines moving highly volatile liquids, lines through populated areas, or segments across navigable waterways.
