Shell Offshore Inc.'s deepwater Auger platform in the Gulf of Mexico has hit its maximum design rate of oil production several months early. Record gulf well production rates have pushed Auger's gross peak flow to more than 55,000 b/d of oil and 105 MMcfd of gas. Shell Offshore parent Shell Oil Co. said it is "particularly encouraged" by Auger's individual well production rates of as much as 13,000 b/d, "far surpassing" the previous gulf record of 9,100 b/d.
