Stordal appointed NPD exploration director

Torgeir Stordal has been hired as exploration director of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

He succeeds Sissel Eriksen, who will depart the management team after completing her rotation. Eriksen has been the exploration director since September 2007.

Stordal joins NPD from Royal Dutch Shell PLC, where he worked since 1989 and held roles including geophysicist and geologist in exploration and field development.

In recent years, he has held several management positions in exploration. During 2009-13, he was the exploration manager of Norske Shell AS and has since held a global role in resource evaluation at Shell’s headquarters in the Netherlands.
