Gillcrist named PentaNova CEO, president

Ralph Gillcrist has been named chief executive officer and president of PentaNova Energy Corp., Vancouver, an exploration and production company focusing on Latin America.

Ralph Gillcrist has been named chief executive officer and president of PentaNova Energy Corp., Vancouver, an exploration and production company focusing on Latin America.

Gregg Vernon has resigned as president of the company and president, Argentina operations. Luciano Biondi has resigned as CEO and will remain with the company as a consultant.

Gillcrist has more than 28 years of experience in international oil and gas, most recently as CEO of Petroamerica Oil Corp., which Gran Tierra Energy Inc., Calgary, acquired in 2016.

In other changes at PentaNova, Alan Aitchison has been named chief operating officer, and Rafael Orunesu has been named vice-president, business development, and country manager, Argentina.

Aitchison recently was chief operating officer and in-country manager in Colombia for PetroGranada Colombia Ltd., another 2016 acquisition of Gran Tierra. Orunesu was cofounder of Gran Tierra, where he was vice-president, Latin America and country manager for Peru.
