ExxonMobil board elects new company president

The ExxonMobil Corp. board of directors elected Senior Vice-President Rex Tillerson president of the corporation and a member of its board of directors, effective Mar. 1.

Houston, Feb. 27 -- The ExxonMobil Corp. board of directors elected Senior Vice-President Rex Tillerson president of the corporation and a member of its board of directors, effective Mar. 1.

With the addition of Tillerson, the ExxonMobil board has 13 directors, 10 of whom are nonemployees.

Lee Raymond continues his position as board chairman and ExxonMobil CEO.

Tillerson was elected senior vice-president on Aug. 1, 2001. In December 1999, he became executive vice president of ExxonMobil Development Co. He joined Exxon Co. USA in 1975 as a production engineer.
