ConocoPhillips reports management appointments

HOUSTON, Nov. 1 -- ConocoPhillips reported the appointment of Kevin Meyers, currently president of ConocoPhillips Alaska, as president of ConocoPhillips's exploration and production operations in Russia and the Caspian Sea region.
James Bowles will succeed Meyers as president, ConocoPhillips Alaska.
Meyers will oversee the company's interests in its new strategic alliance and joint venture agreement with OAO Lukoil. He also will supervise the company's interests in the Polar Lights Co. and the North Caspian Sea production-sharing consortium, which is managing development of giant Kashagan field off Kazakhstan.
Meyers began his career in the petroleum industry with ARCO Exploration & Production Technology in 1980 and as served in a number of positions in ARCO's operations in Texas and Alaska, including president and CEO of ARCO Alaska Inc. and senior vice-president of ARCO.
Following Phillips Petroleum Co.'s acquisition of ARCO Alaska, Meyers served as senior vice-president of Alaska production and operations and president and CEO of Phillips Alaska. He was later elected to executive vice-president of Alaska production and operations for Phillips, and following the ConocoPhillips merger, became president, ConocoPhillips Alaska.
Bowles rejoins the company after retiring from Phillips Petroleum in 2002 with 28 years of service. During his tenure with Phillips, he served in numerous drilling and production assignments and was vice-president of the company's gas gathering and processing subsidiary, deputy managing director of the Norway division, and president of Phillips's Americas division.
As head of Alaskan operations, Bowles will be responsible Alpine field, which ConocoPhillips operates on the western North Slope, as well as the company's operations in south-central Alaska, including a 70% interest in the Kenai LNG plant, the Tyonek platform in North Cook Inlet field, and Beluga gas field in the Cook Inlet area.
