Alaska governor elected IOGCC chair

The Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission has named Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as its 2007-08 chair-elect, effective in September, when IOGCC will hold its annual meeting in New Orleans.

HOUSTON, May 21 -- The Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission has named Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as its 2007-08 chair-elect, effective in September, when IOGCC will hold its annual meeting in New Orleans.

Palin later will become chairman of the commission during its 2008 annual meeting in Santa Fe, NM.

Alaska has been a member of the IOGCC since 1957. IOGCC comprises the governors of 30 member and seven associate states and promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of US oil and gas resources while protecting health, safety, and the environment.
