BHP names Filho chairman of Brazil unit

HOUSTON, May 31 -- BHP Billiton Ltd. has appointed Eleazar de Carvalho Filho chairman of BHP Billiton Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, effective June 1.

Prior to his appointment, Fillho was a partner with Iposeira Gestão de Ativos. Before that, he served as president and director of Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
