Director becomes interim Baytex chief

Raymond Chan, executive chairman of Baytex Energy Corp., Calgary, has assumed the additional role of interim chief executive officer, replacing Anthony Marino, president and chief executive, who is leaving the company.

Raymond Chan, executive chairman of Baytex Energy Corp., Calgary, has assumed the additional role of interim chief executive officer, replacing Anthony Marino, president and chief executive, who is leaving the company. The board will search for a new president and chief executive.

Baytex produces heavy oil in the Lloydminster area along the Saskatchewan-Alberta border and the Peace River area of Alberta as well as light oil, NGL, and natural gas in western Canada and North Dakota.

Chan joined Baytex as senior vice-president and chief financial officer and a director in 1998 and became founding chief executive when the company was converted to an income trust in September 2003. He became vice-chairman in January 2009.
