Berry Petroleum hires acquisition consultant for Rockies, Midcontinent

HOUSTON, Feb. 27 -- Logan Magruder has been hired by Berry Petroleum Co. of Bakersfield, Calif., to serve as the company's acquisition consultant. In his new position which became effective Feb. 1, Magruder evaluates and negotiates oil and natural gas opportunities for Berry in the Rockies and in the Midcontinent, the company said. Berry said it also will open a Denver-based office "to facilitate these efforts."

Prior to his appointment, Magruder served in Denver as vice-president, US operations, for Houston-based Calpine Natural Gas Co. Before that, Magruder worked 5 years for Denver-based Barrett Resources Corp., which was acquired in 2001 by Williams Cos. Inc. (OGJ Online, May 7, 2001).
