Reliant names interim chairman and CEO

Reliant Resources Inc., Houston, said Joel V. Staff was named interim chairman and CEO following the resignation of former Chairman and CEO Steve Letbetter.

HOUSTON, April 15 -- Reliant Resources Inc., Houston, said Joel V. Staff was named interim chairman and CEO following the resignation of former Chairman and CEO Steve Letbetter. Reliant has hired a search firm to help find a new CEO.

A Reliant board member, Staff said, "Our recently completed refinancing significantly improved the company's financial position, and our core businesses are performing well in a difficult environment with substantial upside as markets improve."

Staff served as National Oilwell Inc. chairman, president, and CEO from July 1993 to May 2001 and remains a member of its board.
