BP names new company secretary, head of chairman's office

HOUSTON, July 24 -- The board of BP PLC announced that David Jackson has been appointed company secretary and head of the chairman's office, effective immediately.

Jackson succeeded Judith Hanratty, who has reached retirement age after 28 years with BP and 9 years as company secretary.

Before joining BP in 2002, Jackson was company secretary and general counsel at Powergen PLC for 13 years.
