Ashland Inc. announces senior vice-president, group operating officer

Gary A. Cappeline was elected senior vice-president and group operating officer of Ashland Inc, Covington, Ky., and appointed to the company's executive committee.

HOUSTON, July 23 -- Gary A. Cappeline was elected senior vice-president and group operating officer of Ashland Inc, Covington, Ky., and appointed to the company's executive committee.

In his new role, Cappeline continues as president of Ashland Specialty Chemical Co. and adds oversight responsibilities for Ashland Distribution Co. and several corporate functions.

The latter includes accountability for the European shared business service center; the overall implementation of Ashland's business process redesign effort; and overseeing mergers and acquisitions.

Cappeline became president of Ashland Specialty Chemical Co. in December 2002.
