BANGKOK, Oct. 3 -- Maroot Mrigadat, senior vice-president for business development at PTT Exploration & Production PCL (PTTEP), was elected to take the helm of Thailand's majority state-owned firm, effective Oct 6.

Maroot succeeds Chitrapongse Kwangsukstith, who was transferred to become senior executive vice-president for PTT PCL's gas business group, the parent firm of PTTEP.

Mrigadat said that he vowed to adhere to PTTEP's policies, which have been carried out successfully by his predecessor, who spent 3 years and 9 months as PTTEP president.

There is no definite term for PTTEP presidency, though traditionally a 4-year term has been typical.

Marit joined PTTEP in 1989.
