HOUSTON, June 10 -- Peter J. Wilt has been named executive vice-president, Europe, for Duke Energy International (DEI), a wholly owned unit of Charlotte, NC-based Duke Energy Corp. Wilt succeeds Alfred Sorensen, who oversaw DEI's European business for the last 2 years.

Wilt's new assignment will focus on acquiring asset positions that "complement the company's trading capabilities," the company said. Wilt has been with DEI since 1998 and has 30 years of experience in the energy industry. Most recently, he has served as the leader of the unit's Latin American operations.
