RIO DE JANEIRO, Mar. 22 -- Venezuela President Hugo Chávez and Uruguay President Tabare Vazquez signed various bilateral agreements, including one calling for Venezuela to sell oil to Uruguay and another for the countries to work cooperatively on energy.

Chávez earlier signed similar agreements with Argentina and Brazil toward the creation of a cooperative regional energy block, Petrosur (OGJ Online, Sept. 29, 2004).

Venezuela agreed to supply Uruguay with 43,600 b/d of oil. Under the agreement, some payments could involve food as well as certain services including information programs.
