Jan. 29, 2024
Europa Oil & Gas will use a recently granted license extension offshore Ireland to carry out additional technical studies and secure a development partner.

Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) plc received notification from the Irish Government’s Department of the Environment, Climate, and Communications (DECC) granting an extension for Phase 1 of frontier exploration license (FEL) 3/19, offshore Ireland, to Jan. 31, 2026.

The company intends to use the extension to carry out further technical studies and allow more time to secure a partner to advance development of the license.

FEL 3/19 covers 958 sq km in Slyne basin, 18 km east of the producing Corrib gas field in the Atlantic Ocean in 350 m of water. The gas play is comprised of Triassic sandstone. FEL 3/19 lies close to Europa’s FEL 4/19 which contains the 1.5 tcf Inishkea West gas prospect (OGJ Online, Mar. 2, 2022).
