Blue Energy Ltd., Brisbane, has signed a non-binding heads of agreement with EnergyAustralia, Melbourne, for the supply of 100 petajoules of gas over 10 years from Blue’s northern Bowen basin coal seam gas permit ATP 814 in Queensland.

The gas will be delivered to the Wallumbilla hub at the rate of 10 petajoules/year.

Blue Energy noted that it will be the first agreement enabling north Bowen basin gas to be delivered into the main Australian east coast domestic market to the south from Moranbah.

The company said it will be the foundation volume that underpins the proposed gas pipeline from the north Bowen basin to the Wallumbilla hub as well as for the development of Blue’s permits in the region.

The ATP 814 permit has been assessed by independent consultants Netherland Sewell and Associates Inc. to contain 3,248 petajoules of contingent resources (recoverable) around Moranbah. In addition there is an estimated 71 petajoules of 2P reserves and 298 petajoules of 3P reserves close to existing infrastructure in the basin.
