The Equinor 36/1-3 wildcat on production license 885 in the Northern North Sea was dry, reports partner Cairn Energy PLC (OGJ Online, Dec. 10, 2018).

The Transocean Spitsbergen semisubmersible drilled the well to 2,873 m below sea surface in 230 m of water 15 km east of a gas discovery designated Agat and 55 km northwest of Floro.

The well penetrated 180 m of the target Lower Cretaceous Agat formation, of which 55 m was reservoir rock Cairn described as “very good.” It has been plugged.

The rig next will drill the Equinor 25/6-6 S wildcat on PL 870.

Cairn participated in the 36/1-3 well through Capricorn Norge AS, a wholly owned subsidiary, with a 30% interest. Other interests are Wellesley Petroleum AS, 30%, and Equinor and Petoro AS, 20% each.
