Wintershall sees upside in Dutch North Sea oil discovery

Wintershall AG will appraise an oil discovery in 2013 in the Dutch North Sea to which it attributes “a potential of at least 30 million bbl recoverable oil with a more than significant upside.”

Wintershall AG will appraise an oil discovery in 2013 in the Dutch North Sea to which it attributes “a potential of at least 30 million bbl recoverable oil with a more than significant upside.”

The F17-10 exploratory well in 44 m of water on the F17a license 120 km north of Den Helder went to a total depth of 1,490 m into the top of a salt dome and encountered a thick oil column and produced oil on a production test. Wintershall didn’t give further details.
