AMOCO TESTS ARKOMA STRIKE

Amoco Production Co. has completed a gas field discovery it terms "significant" in the Ouachita thrust area of the Arkoma basin in Southeast Oklahoma. Amoco's 1-A Retherford in Latimer County flowed 49.3 MMcfd with 1,825 psi flowing tubing pressure from Pennsylvanian Spiro sandstone perforations at 12,142-70 ft. Amoco operates the well and has a 42% working interest, Exxon Co. U.S.A. 57%. The 1-A Retherford is 6 1/2 miles southeast of Hartshorne and 3 miles south of Wilburton gas field.

Since late 1988, Amoco has drilled or participated in 17 gas wells in the area. Its net sales from the wells total about 95 MMcfd.
