Rathlin Energy can proceed with West Newton A-2 (WNA-2) testing on PEDL183 in East Yorkshire following approval from the Environment Agency (EA).

Rathlin received a decision document from EA granting variation to the onshore permit allowing mechanical methods (pumpjack or nodding donkey) for lifting wellbore fluids and for utilization of a smaller incineration unit.

Drilling and early testing of WNA-2 provided information that improved understanding of the targeted Kirkham Abbey reservoir leading to identification of a potential oil leg overlain by associated gas cap (OGJ Online, June 19, 2019).

Testing at West Newton will recommence once government guidance pertaining to COVID-19 allows, the required personnel and equipment become available, and the health and continued safety of Rathlin employees, contract personnel and the community can be ensured.

PEDL183 lies within the western sector of the Southern Zechstein basin and includes the West Newton A-1 and A-2 hydrocarbon discoveries.
