Equinor Energy AS let a contract to Aker Solutions for the Fram Sør subsea tie-in project 20 km north of the Troll C platform.

Fram Sør will be developed as a subsea tie-in to Troll C and will utilize the existing processing capacity on the platform. Twelve wells are planned for start-up and four well slots will be available for later development in the Fram/Troll area (OGJ Online, June 26, 2025).

The contract is to prepare Troll C’s topside to receive and process production from the tieback. The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC), as well as services for the new subsea templates. Aker Solutions has already carried out the front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the project.

The project will start immediately, with production scheduled to start at end-2029.

Fram Sør lies in the northern part of the North Sea about 120 km northwest of Bergen. Water depth in the area is about 350 m, and the reservoir depth is between 1,800–2,800 m.

Fram partners Equinor (operator, 45%), Vår Energi ASA (40%), and INPEX Idemitsu Norge AS (15%) plan to invest more than NOK 21 billion (US $2.2 billion) in the Norwegian Continental Shelf subsea project.
