Harken confirms third producible zone in Colombia's Palo Blanco field

HOUSTON, Apr. 21 -- Global Energy Development PLC, the international unit of Harken Energy Corp., Houston, said its Estero 4 well on the Alcaravan Association Contract in Colombia confirmed a third producible zone in Palo Blanco field.

Global perforated and tested the Massive Ubaque zone at 8,352-8,371 ft, which contained at least 14 ft of hydrocarbon thickness. The well tested a 960 gross b/d with 16° gravity. Global owns 100% of the Estero 4 well and expects to place it on stream by Apr. 30.

The Upper Mirador and Upper Ubaque zones, both already productive, also demonstrated hydrocarbon shows during the Estero 4 drilling. Palo Blanco field in the Llanos basin east of giant Cusiana and Cupiagua oil and gas fields (OGJ Online, Feb. 14, 2003).
