Delmar Systems installs deepwater trees

Delmar Systems Inc. has installed two subsea christmas trees to be tied back from Merganser gas field to the deepwater Independence Hub semisubmersible production facility under construction on Mississippi Canyon Block 920 in the Gulf of Mexico (OGJ, Jan. 16, 2006, Newsletter).

HOUSTON, Mar. 20 -- Delmar Systems Inc. has installed two subsea christmas trees to be tied back from Merganser gas field to the deepwater Independence Hub semisubmersible production facility under construction on Mississippi Canyon Block 920 in the Gulf of Mexico (OGJ, Jan. 16, 2006, Newsletter).

Delmar claimed a world record for installing the 10,000 psi trees from an anchor-handling vessel in 7,950 ft of water.

Kerr-McGee Corp., operator with 50% working interest, discovered Merganser in 2001. Devon Energy Corp. holds the remaining interest.

Independence Hub will handle gas from 10 fields.
