Hurricane Energy PLC has spudded the 205/26b-C well (Warwick Deep) in the Greater Warwick Area (GWA) west of the UK Shetland Islands.

The well, drilled by the Transocean Leader semisubmersible, is the first in a three-well program in Hurricane’s Warwick and Lincoln areas. Two of the wells will be on the P2294 (Warwick/Lincoln) license, and one will be on P1368 South (Lincoln) license.

P2294 and P1368 comprise the GWA, in which Hurricane and Spirit Energy hold 50% interests each (OGJ Online, Sept. 4, 2018).

Hurricane says Warwick might be an extension of its 2016 Lincoln discovery in the 205/26b-12 well on P1368 South. The well penetrated more than 800 m of fractured basement with an “extensive oil column.”
