Haynesville joint venture hits 100 MMcfd

Plains E&P said production from its Jurassic Haynesville shale joint venture with Chesapeake Energy has reached 100 MMcfd from 18 wells.

HOUSTON, Feb. 26 -- Plains Exploration & Production Co., Houston, said production from its Jurassic Haynesville shale joint venture with Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, has reached 100 MMcfd from 18 wells.

Chesapeake has estimated that output will grow to 575 MMcfd by the end of 2009.

The joint venture has drilled 35 wells and expects to average 26 rigs this year compared with 21 at present.

Initial production or test rates at the last seven horizontal wells averaged 16 MMcfd, and the two most recent wells, which await hookup, tested more than 22 MMcfd.
