LOS ANGELES, June 23 -- Gran Tierra Energy Inc., Calgary, signed three exploration and exploitation contracts with Colombia’s National Hydrocarbon Agency totaling 235,264 acres.
The acreage includes Piedemonte Norte block, Piedemonte Sur block, and Rumiyaco block—all previously a part of the Putumayo West A and B technical evaluation areas.
Gran Tierra detailed its agreements for each of the three blocks.
Piedemonte Norte
Gran Tierra holds 100% working interest in the 78,743-acre Piedemonte Norte block. The company’s work obligations on the block will be completed in six consecutive phases. The first, to be completed within 12 months, requires Gran Tierra to acquire 70 km of 2D seismic data. Subsequent work phases are also 12 months long, and include:
-- Phase 2: Drill one exploration well to 4,500 ft.
-- Phase 3: Acquire 70 sq km of 3D seismic.
-- Phase 4: Drill one exploration well to 4,500 ft.
-- Phase 5: Drill one exploration well to 4,500 ft.
-- Phase 6: Drill one exploration well to 4,500 ft.
Piedemonte Sur
Gran Tierra holds 100% working interest in the 73,897-acre Piedemonte Sur block. The company’s work obligations on the block also are to be completed in six consecutive phases. Gran Teirra holds 100% working interest in the 82,624-acre Rumiyaco block. The company’s work obligations on the block will be completed in six consecutive phases. Gran Tierra has 9 months to complete the first phase, which requires the reprocessing of 60 km of 2D seismic and the acquisition of 68 km of additional 2D seismic. Subsequent work phases are 12 months long, and include:
-- Phase 2: Drill one exploration well to 8,000 ft.
-- Phase 3: Drill one exploration well to 8,000 ft or acquire 50 sq km of 3D seismic.
