Hardman Resources Ltd. said drilling on its Maputa-1 well in Uganda has been suspended since Dec. 27 ahead of the arrival of parts to replace a broken driveshaft. The required parts currently are being air-freighted to Uganda.

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 30 -- Hardman Resources Ltd. said drilling on its Maputa-1 well in Uganda has been suspended since Dec. 27 ahead of the arrival of parts to replace a broken driveshaft. The required parts currently are being air-freighted to Uganda.
The well is located 220 km northwest of the capital Kampala and onshore 8 km from Lake Albert.
Hardman spudded the Maputa-1 well Dec 22, and drilled the 18-5/8-in. surface hole to 107 m where the 13-3/8-in. casing was run and cemented. The well's planned TD is 1,100 m.
Maputa-1 lies 60 km southwest of the Butiaba Waki-1 well (drilled in 1938) and 87 km northeast of the Turaco exploration wells drilled by Heritage in 2002-04.
Hardman is operator of the block with a 50% stake, while Tullow Oil also holds 50%.
