Argentina Hunt Oil Co. and an Argentine firm have received an exploration area in Central Argentina by state owned Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Soc. del Estado (YPF).
The contract, awarded to Argentina Hunt and Perfiltra SA, Buenos Aires, covers 9,895 sq km - about 2.445 million acres - in the General Levalle block in Cordoba province.
Argentina Hunt, a unit of Hunt Oil Co., Dallas, has a 97% working interest and will be operator. Perfiltra owns the remaining interest.
During the contract's initial 3 year term, the companies will reprocess seismic data, acquire about 800 km of new data, and perform other geological and geophysical work. To maintain the contract beyond 3 years, they will drill exploratory wells.
YPF awarded the block after the recent fifth round of bidding in Argentina.
