bp PLC has let a subsea contract to TechnipFMC for work on the Argos Southwest Extension project in Mad Dog field in the US Gulf of Mexico.

TechnipFMC will install pipe and an umbilical, tying back three new wells to the Argos platform, the service provider said in a release Jan. 16.

Under the contract—valued by the service provider at $75-250 million—TechnipFMC will also manufacture and install pipeline end terminations.

In April 2023, bp started production at its Argos semi-submersible floating production platform in 4,500 ft of water about 190 miles south of New Orleans and about 6 nautical miles from the original Mad Dog spar (OGJ Online, Apr. 13, 2023). The platform has a gross production capacity of up to 140,000 b/d of oil.
