Trillion Energy International Inc. will acquire 2D seismic data and start an oil exploration seismic program for the first of three Cudi-Gabar oil farm-in blocks in the Cudi-Gabar oil province in southeastern Turkey.

“The initial seismic data will be analyzed for anticline structures with seals to focus future drilling efforts,” said Arthur Halleran, chief executive officer of Trillion.

Seismic acquisition has never been performed in the M47 c3 & c4 license areas (M47 block). New lines will be shot 11-12 km from Sehit Aybuke Yalcin and Sehit Esma Cevik oil fields.

Equipment and staff are being mobilized to the block to drill 3,750 holes 12 m deep which will then be used to shoot a dynamite-based seismic survey over the east to northeast half of the block covering roughly 15,000 hectares, the company said.

The seismic acquisition program will begin mid-November and conclude in December 2023, followed by processing and interpretation which will take an estimated 5-6 months. A second seismic acquisition program for blocks M46C and M46D is planned for 2024 following completion of the M47 block seismic program.

Cudi-Gabar province is central to an active petroleum system extending up from Iraq and Syria, where Turkey’s portion contains oil fields including Sehit Esma Cevik, discovered in 2022, and Sehit Aybuke Yalcin, discovered in 2023 (OGJ Online, July 31, 2023). Trillion has a 10 well oil exploration drilling program on the three Cudi-Gabar oil farm-in blocks for 2023-26. Total acreage of the three blocks is 151,484 hectares (374,325 acres).

In July 2023, Trillion signed a farm-in agreement with Derkim Poliüretan Sanayi ve Ticaret AS to earn a 50% working and revenue interest in Cudi-Gabar petroleum province. Trillion is operator of the exploration program.
