The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming started a 30-day scoping period to receive public input on 209 parcels totaling 251,086 acres that may be included in an upcoming lease sale.

Future BLM lease sales will include updated fiscal provisions authorized in the Inflation Reduction Act which include minimum bids for all offered parcels of $10/acre, an increase from the $2/acre minimum bid set in 1987; 16.67% royalty rates, up from the previous 12.5% minimum; and $3/acre rental rates for the first 2 years, $5/acre for years 3-8, and $15/acre in years 9-10.

Before the Inflation Reduction Act, rental rates originally set in 1987 were $1.50/acre for the first 5 years and $2/acre for each year thereafter.

The parcels BLM will analyze, with maps and instructions on how to comment, are available at https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2021772/510.
