BW Energy Gabon SA sailed away the BW MaBoMo offshore jack up production platform for development of Hibiscus and Ruche oil fields in the Dussafu license, offshore Gabon.
BW MaBoMo, formerly the Hibiscus Alpha jack up drilling rig, has been repurposed as an offshore production platform with 12 well slots. It will be connected to the BW Adolo FPSO via a 20 km pipeline (OGJ Online, Sept. 16, 2020).
The infrastructure is currently in transit onboard a heavy-lift vessel. It is expected to arrive at end September for installation and hook-up. First oil is planned for late first-quarter 2023.
The Dussafu license lies within the Ruche Exclusive Exploitation Area, which covers 850 sq km and includes six discovered oil fields and numerous leads and prospects. Average water depth is 116 m.
BW Energy is currently executing the Hibiscus-Ruche development project about 20 km northwest of Tortue field. The initial phase involves drilling of up to six horizontal production wells in a 12-well phased program. Of these initial wells, four will target Hibiscus field while the remaining two will target Ruche field. These initial wells will exploit the Gamba reservoir.
The development is expected to add up to 30,000 b/d gross production once all the initial six horizontal production wells are on stream.
BW Energy Gabon is operator of the license (73.5%) with partners Panoro Energy (17.5%) and Gabon Oil Co. (9%).
