Equinor has let a contract to LOC Stavanger, the Norway office of LOC Group, for work in the North Sea. LOC will provide marine warranty surveyor (MWS) services for the SURF (subsea umbilical, risers, and flowlines) development on Johan Sverdrup oil field.
The scope of work is for part of the Phase 2 development of the field. LOC has been providing MWS services on the development of the Johan Sverdrup field since 2015.
Phase 2 includes development of another processing platform for the field center and the Avaldsnes, Kvitsoy, and Geitungen satellite areas. Discovered in 2010, the North Sea field has estimated resources of 2-3 billion boe (OGJ Online, Aug. 20, 2016). Phase 2 is expected to be complete in 2022 (OGJ Online, Aug. 27, 2018)
The group’s scope of work for the contract under existing frame agreement will include a review of the project, procedural and technical design documentation relating to marine operations, as well as on-site attendances to approve operations for project critical cargo, pipelines, cables, and umbilical. The SURF development includes subsea infrastructure of some 100 km of rigid pipelines.
