Anadarko Petroleum Corp. became operator of the Rovuma basin onshore block in northern Mozambique on Jan. 1, 2009.

HOUSTON, Feb. 6 -- Anadarko Petroleum Corp. became operator of the Rovuma basin onshore block in northern Mozambique on Jan. 1, 2009.

Anadarko, with 42% working interest, shot 641 line-km of 2D seismic on the block in the last half of 2008, which it will tie with seismic on Rovuma Offshore Area 1, which it operates with 43% working interest.

The 2D data and 3D offshore data are being interpreted in support of exploratory drilling expected to start in the second half of 2009.
