HOUSTON, June 18
– Ukraine’s president signed into law legislation that exempts from taxation the production and use of coalbed methane for 10 years starting Jan. 1, 2010.

The law authorizes Ukraine’s National Electricity Regulatory Commission to limit the price of methane if its production is funded from the state budget.

The government plans to grant state support and guarantees to the producers and suppliers of energy from coalbed methane.
