Vår Energi increases production at Gjøa field
Vår Energi ASA has increased production and remaining recoverable volumes from Gjøa oil and gas field in North Sea production license 153 (PL153) following start-up of the Gjøa low-pressure project.
The operator modified compressor systems on the Gjøa semisubmersible platform, which has enabled the wells to produce longer and at higher rates, increasing the remaining recoverable volumes. Production increased by 6,000 boe/d to 41,000 boe/d (gross) as a result of the start-up.
Remaining recoverable volumes increased about 25% to a total of 6.3 MMboe, the operator said, extending the economic production life of Gjøa by 2-3 years. Through the project, said Torger Rød, Vår Energi chief operations officer, the company also is prolonging the economic life of other producing fields tied into the Gjøa platform (Duva, Vega, and Nova).
Concept select studies were performed by Aker Solutions and the project was executed by Rosenberg Worley. The low-pressure production began in September.
Vår Energi is operator at PL153 (30%) with partners Petoro (30%), Harbour Energy Norge AS (28%), and OKEA ASA (12%).
