CNOOC gauges Yinggehai basin HP/HT gas find

CNOOC Ltd. said it has made a natural gas discovery in a high-pressure high-temperature reservoir at the Dongfang 13-2 well in the western South China Sea offshore western Hainan Island in China.

CNOOC Ltd. said it has made a natural gas discovery in a high-pressure high-temperature reservoir at the Dongfang 13-2 well in the western South China Sea offshore western Hainan Island in China.

The 13-2 well went to a total depth of 3,168 m in 65 m of water in the northern part of the central sag of the Yinggehai Tertiary basin. It encountered a combined 35 m of pay and flowed at an average 42.4 MMcfd of gas from undisclosed formations.
