The unit incorporates a closed internal system with minimal moving parts and a solid impact-resistant and water-resistant outer shell. This design helps to ensure that the scanner will withstand potentially harsh environments offshore, the firm points out. Size of this 32 lb unit is 18.5 in. high by 7.5 in. wide by 21.7 in. long. Its size helps makes it easy to laser scan in congested areas and to transport when space is at a premium.

Combination tool aids decoking operations

The new AutoShift combination cutting tool promises automated, simplified, and safer hydraulic decoking operation.

The patented tool makes remote operation feasible by removing the operator from the cutting deck. Mode shifting is accomplished automatically and remotely by water pressurization and depressurization, not manually. As such, there is no personnel exposure to:
• High pressure water.
• Hot spots or steam eruptions.
• Hydrogen sulfide vapors.
• Mechanical hazards.

• Improved operator safety.
• Greater system automation.
• Reduced cycle times.
• Improved efficiency.
• Easier maintenance.
• Shifting flexibility to free stuck tools.
