Cheiron Energy brings Geisum and Tawila West EPF onstream
Cheiron Energy, Cairo, brought on stream the early production facility (EPF) for GNN oil field in the Geisum and Tawila West concession in the Gulf of Suez.
The EPF has been installed in the central area of the field and includes a conductor support platform, a mobile offshore production unit, and a 10-in. oil export pipeline, tied back to the existing Geisum Star production complex, the company said in a release Mar. 27.
The first well to come onstream across the EPF was GNN-6, which is currently producing about 4,200 bo/d. This well will be followed by the completion of two additional predrilled wells, GNN-3 and GNN-8, over the next few weeks. Up to four additional wells will be subsequently drilled.
The southern area of the field has been appraised and developed using extended reach drilling techniques which has enabled the completion of three production wells from the existing Geisum field GD platform, with a further well currently being drilled from the platform.
When this phase is complete, the company expects the gross oil production rate from the concession will exceed 25,000 bo/d.
GNN field was discovered by Cheiron in 2019 and is estimated to hold over 300 million bbl of oil in place.
Cheiron (through its PICO GOS affiliate) is operator of the Geisum and Tawila West concession (60%) with partner Kufpec Co. (40%).
