Jadestone Energy PLC plans to restart production at the Montara project offshore Australia.

Jadestone Energy PLC plans to restart production at the Montara project in the Timor Sea offshore Australia.

Recent activity has focused on planned topsides maintenance on the Montara Venture floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel, following final tank inspection, repairs, and lifting of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority general direction. The topsides maintenance occurs every 4 years.

These workstreams were completed successfully and the company will restart production. While performing necessary testing on process equipment during restart, a small number of inconsistencies in standard fittings were identified and are being rectified to ensure safe operation. This activity is expected to be complete in about 1 week. A further announcement will be made when production resumes.

Jadestone shut Montara field in 2022 following oil leakage from a storage tank and the subsequent discovery of a defect in a water ballast tank on the FPSO (OGJ Online, Feb. 9, 2023). Production before the shut-down was about 7,500 b/d.
