Petro Rio SA doubled production at Frade field, in Campos basin offshore Brazil, about 125 km from Cabo Frio and 172 km from Polvo field.

Well 7-FR-54H-RJS (ODP4), the first well in Frade’s revitalization campaign, came online with about 15,000 b/d stabilized initial production, which was above original projections. The well doubles field production.

Drilling ODP4 was concluded in 68 days, which was faster than expected and resulted in a 30% cost reduction for the well’s construction and subsea connection, the company said.

Due to ODP4’s lower execution period and cost, Petro Rio expects to drill an additional producer well (MUP3A). Although this new well has lower expected production (about 3,500 b/d), it will also have lower capital expenditure as it will use the shut-in MUP3 well subsea structure.

The first phase of Frade’s revitalization campaign, therefore, now includes 4 wells (2 producers and 2 injectors) under unchanged capital guidance.

Frade field producing wells are connected via risers to the Frade FPSO which has the capacity to process up to 100,000 b/d and can store up to 1.5 million bbl of oil.

PetroRio is operator with 70% interest.
