Production at Bretana field in Peru has returned to pre-shutdown levels of 11,500 bo/d following a July 1 restart, PetroTal said July 27. Production over 12,000 bo/d occurred when all seven wells were online. Second-quarter 2020 production, including time when the field was shut in, averaged about 4,180 bo/d.

PetroTal said May 7 that it had temporarily shut in field operations in response to a COVID-19 prevention directive issued by the Peruvian government which also resulted in shut in of the Northern Oil Pipeline (ONP) (OGJ Online, May 8, 2020). The period was used to perform maintenance operations and improvements to production facilities.

Oil deliveries have commenced to the Iquitos refinery with about 40,000 bbl expected during July. Oil is being barged to the Saramuro pump station, ready for delivery into the ONP as soon as it restarts operations in early August. To manage inventory and barge storage capacity, Bretana production has been reduced to 8,000 bo/d pending restart of the pipeline.

Bretana field, in Block 95 in Maranon basin along the Ucayali River, is owned and operated by PetroTal.
